RANDOM COLLECTIONS
For several years I have been developing a method of creative work based on walking. The physical process of observing and listening to the slowly changing landscape stimulates thought, but also allows me to see reality in a new way. During my walks I collect objects, overheard snippets of stories, make photographs, drawings and field recordings. They are the result of chance, but also of direct interaction with the surrounding reality. They become elements of my projects, sometimes remaining on the periphery, sometimes influencing the exhibition or performance I am making.
"Random Collections" is a project that develops this method into a comprehensive action based solely on walking and collecting in a given environment. The first opportunity I had to do this was at the invitation of the Pilkentafel Theatre in Flensburg, where I spent a month in March 2025. The entire scenography and sound design of the work, which I proposed as a final presentation, resulted directly from the collected materials. The performance moved within the stylistics of sound theatre (radio play) and object theatre. The basic methods were processuality, randomness and attentiveness.
