VILLA P. / MAGDEBURG (DE)

Artistic interventions in the three exhibition rooms (E: Schichtl - a dynasty, F: In motion, and H: Construction helpers) of FigurenSammlung in Villa P. of Puppentheater Magdeburg, are made alongside the permanent exhibits. The small changes aim to raise questions about the exhibition practice of puppets, some of which were designed according to racist stereotypes in the 19th and 20th centuries. Museums are increasingly discussing whether and how they should exhibit objects that can be hurtful to some people and have an unclear history of origin.

The interventions were created as part of the event Am roten Faden 3: Object und Objectification. What lies in our museums curated by Sofie Neu, during a one week residency.

HRDLIČKOVO MUZEUM ČLOVĚKA / PRAHA (CZ)

Art intervention in the Museum of Man (Hrdličkovo muzeum člověka) at Charles University. It consists of a written biography and an animation dedicated to the so-called "Amazon Gutta", whose bones are still on display in the glass case at the front. It aims to draw attention to the colonial and racist context of the exhibition.
