JANINA WĘGRZYNOWSKA / ARCHIVE
Janina Wegrzynowska's Archive is a collection of works, documents and personal objects of the artist, who dedicated her entire life to art and remained unknown to the general public. The work, which began in 2013 together with Magdalena Franczak, slowly brought about subsequent realizations, including a performative installation entitled "Life and Death of Janina Wegrzynowska" (premiered in 2016). In 2023, a series of activities dedicated to the artist were organized in cooperation with the Studio Gallery in Warsaw, the BWA in Bydgoszcz (exhibition "Who is Janina Węgrzynowska?"), the Arton Foundation (exhibition of the artist's collages and work on her digital archive), and the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute in Warsaw (participation of a maquette from the play in the exhibition "Fragments II" during the Praque Quadriennial 2023). The activities also led to the exhibition of three of the artist's works in the Bydgoszcz Philharmonic Hall. They had been in the possession of the institution since the 1990s and had been stored in the warehouses of the Wyczółkowski Museum.
Archiwum Janiny Węgrzynowskiej jest kolekcją prac, dokumentów i osobistych przedmiotów artystki, która całe swoje życie poświęciła sztuce jednocześnie pozostając nieznaną szerszej publiczności. Praca, rozpoczęta, wraz z Magdaleną Franczak, w 2013 roku powoli przynosiła kolejne realizacje, w tym instalację performatywną pt. „Życie i Śmierć Janiny Węgrzynowskiej” (premiera 2016 r.). W roku 2023 pojawiło się szereg działań poświęconych artystce realizowanych we współpracy z Galerią Studio w Warszawie, BWA w Bydgoszczy (wystawa „Kim jest Janina Węgrzynowska?”), Fundacją Arton (wystawa collages artystki oraz praca nad jej cyfrowym archiwum) oraz Instytutem Teatralnym im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego w Warszawie (udział makiety ze spektaklu w wystawie „Fragments II” podczas Praque Quadriennial 2023). W ramach działań udało się również doprowadzić do ekspozycji trzech prac artystki w holu Filharmonii Bydgoskiej. Instytucja posiadała je od lat 90. XX w. i przechowywała w magazynach Muzeum im. Wyczółkowskiego.
